German authorities investigate assault allegation involving Bulgarian embassy official
German authorities are investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving a Bulgarian cleric who is also an employee of the Bulgarian embassy in Berlin. The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated it is in direct contact with the German Federal Foreign Office to provide necessary assistance. According to the Ministry, the employee in question has voluntarily waived his functional immunity.
The case gained public attention through Archimandrite Nikanor Mishkov and the civil association BOETS, who claim the alleged incident occurred within the Bulgarian embassy building. While public reports mention a 24-year-old Bulgarian student, German police and prosecutors have not officially confirmed these specific details.
The Western and Central European Metropolis has stated it lacks official information from German authorities confirming an assault. The religious institution noted that a prior financial dispute involving 5,000 euros between the woman and the man has been identified through bank transfers, suggesting a possible version of events involving attempted extortion. This version has also not been confirmed by German investigators.
