German basketball: Tigers Tübingen signs Jesse Ani and USC BasCats secure preseason win

In German basketball, Tigers Tübingen has strengthened its roster for the 2026/2027 BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga season by signing 24-year-old Jesse “Jason” Ani. Ani, a 1.91-meter guard/forward, joins from Uni Baskets Münster on a contract lasting through the end of the 2026/2027 season. Coach Félix Bañobre highlighted Ani’s defensive intensity and ability to drive to the basket as key assets for the team.

Meanwhile, in women’s basketball, USC BasCats Heidelberg secured an 87:59 victory against MTV Stuttgart in their first preseason test match. The game marked the return of former championship players Michala Würzner and Olivia Nash-Becker to the BasCats. Würzner, returning to the court after a two-year hiatus, is expected to contribute to the team’s high-tempo style under new head coach Niko Kuusi.
