German Bergstrasse wine region expands red grape cultivation
Vintners in the Bergstrasse region, located between Darmstadt and Heidelberg, are increasingly planting red wine grapes. Due to rising temperatures and increased sunshine, areas that previously lacked sufficient sunlight for grape cultivation are now becoming viable for production.
Local producers note that the warmer climate and abundant sunshine have contributed to improved wine quality. The region offers various agricultural and tourism activities, including vineyard biking and culinary walks that combine wine tasting with local snacks.
