German Biathlon Team adopts unified training approach

Head coach Tobias Reiter announced that the German men's biathlon squad will no longer separate athletes into formal A and B cadres. All twelve athletes will train together as a single "Team Germany" in joint training camps, with equal status regardless of previous roster placement. Reiter explained that younger athletes are being paired with more experienced teammates so they can "push each other".

The first joint training camp featured a unique itinerary: the team rode bicycles from Niederndorf near Rosenheim to Bozen, continued on ski‑rollers toward Lake Garda, undertook a mountain hike, and then cycled from the lake to the Lavazè Pass where the main camp was held. The program also includes work with a sports psychologist and a focus on improving shooting performance, covering everything from the start approach to timing and overall routine. Simulated race conditions, such as background music, are used to train athletes. Data analysis is being applied to refine the team's preparation.

The official A‑squad includes Johannes Nawrath, Simon Schempp (Strelow), Philipp Horn, Leonhard Pfund, Danilo Riethmüller and David Zobel, while the B‑squad features Lucas Fratzscher, Fabian Kaskel, Franz Schaser, Elias Seidl, Simon Kaiser and Roman Rees.
