German Bundeswehr Deploys Electronic Warfare Unit Near Belarus Border in Lithuania

German soldiers from the Bundeswehr’s EloKa (electronic warfare) unit are operating on the NATO‑Eastern flank in Lithuania, about two kilometres from the Belarusian border. Their mission is to monitor the electromagnetic spectrum, intercepting enemy radio and radar signals and detecting data anomalies, without any use of weapons, rockets or drones. The concealed position includes a camouflaged vehicle, a generator, antennas and a communications cabin, allowing continuous surveillance and reporting to higher command. The unit was also on duty during a recent nationwide drone alert in Lithuania, where warning messages were issued to the public and security levels were raised. The deployment reflects ongoing NATO vigilance along the eastern frontier amid heightened tensions with Belarus.
