German Chancellor Friedrich Merz drops to 15th place in latest poll

A new Forsa poll commissioned by n-tv and RTL shows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz falling eight percentage points to 25 % support, placing him 15th out of 20 politicians surveyed. The poll also records a decline for Vice‑Chancellor Lars Klingbeil (SPD) and a modest loss for the defence minister. FDP leader Wolfgang Kubicki entered the top ten with 31 % support, while Interior Minister Boris Pistorius remains the most popular figure at 55 %.

The results highlight widespread dissatisfaction with the governing coalition, with 83 % of respondents expressing overall disapproval of the chancellor’s performance. Analysts caution that such rankings are volatile and reflect short‑term media attention as well as broader political sentiment.
