German charity fundraisers collect donations for Ghana hospital and local social projects
Max Weber, a 21‑year‑old from Paderborn, is cycling across Europe to raise money via GoFundMe for the Westphalian Medical Center in Oyoko, Ghana. He averages about 100 km per day, has ridden through Greece, Montenegro, Bosnia and Albania, and now travels with fellow cyclist Hannes from Stuttgart through Turkey and Greece. Weber hopes the tour will support his future medical internship and provide needed funds for the Ghanaian hospital.
In Weiden, Bavaria, the Adventlicht action raised a total of €40,000 for a range of social organisations, including asylum aid groups, child‑care facilities, self‑help associations and local hospices. The money, collected through a gala and additional donations, will finance outings, birthday and Advent celebrations, and other activities not covered by official budgets. Organisers stressed the importance of community support and the direct benefit to the listed groups.
