German charity runs organized to combat violence

Various charity runs are being organized in Germany to combat different forms of violence.

In Weißenfels, the fifth ‘Lauf gegen Gewalt’ is scheduled for September 2, 2026. This year’s event, themed ‘Schutz für die, die schützen’ (Protection for those who protect), focuses on supporting emergency and aid workers, including police, firefighters, and organizations like the Red Cross. The event has already seen 1,000 of its 1,500 available spots filled. Registration remains open until August 28, 2026.

In the Hanau area, a benefit run titled ‘Stärke zeigen – Gemeinsam gegen Gewalt an Frauen’ (Showing Strength – Together against Violence against Women) will take place on September 18, 2026. Organized by Team Schöneck, the event aims to raise funds for women's shelters in Hanau and Wächtersbach. The 6 km course is open to walkers, runners, and individuals with disabilities, with registration closing on September 11.
