German cities add extra public transport for major football matches

In Magdeburg, the public‑transport operator added additional trams on line 15 to serve both the Mega‑Malle festival at the Elbauenpark and the 2. Bundesliga match between 1. FC Magdeburg and Eintracht Braunschweig on 8 August. The extra service links the Messegelände/Elbauenpark and the AVNET‑Arena with the main station, allowing fans to travel without traffic jams or parking fees.

In Saarbrücken, police prepared a large security operation for the 1. FC Saarbrücken home game against Rot‑Weiss Essen on 9 August. The Camphauser Straße was fully closed, traffic was rerouted, and drones were deployed to monitor the area. Shuttle buses and an activated resident‑parking scheme were offered to ease congestion, while pedestrian access was restricted around the stadium entrance.
