German cities adjust public transport amid construction
In Halle (Saale), the municipal transport operator Hallesche Verkehrs‑AG (HAVAG) will close bus stop E at the Rennbahnkreuz from 10 August to 4 September 2026 because of construction work. The change affects bus lines 40 and 91, which will run on shortened routes and use temporary replacement stops such as Hyazinthenstraße.
In Haltern, the S9 regional rail line between Haltern am See and Bottrop Hbf will be suspended during night hours from 16 August to 28 August 2026 while overhead lines are repaired. A bus replacement service will operate, but journeys will take roughly three times longer. Additional restrictions affect the RE42 line from 8 August to 23 August, with several stops cancelled.
Both cities have introduced alternative stops and bus services to maintain connectivity while the construction proceeds.
