German Cities and Munich District Advance Climate‑Adaptation Projects

The Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt opened the exhibition “Too Hot – Hot Cities, New Paths” (20 June 2026 – 7 Feb 2027), presenting climate‑adaptation projects from 13 European cities. The show highlights urban measures against heat, drought, water scarcity and intense rainfall, and is accompanied by a three‑part podcast series and a public debate on climate‑neutral city planning.

In the Munich district, the Landratsamt and participating municipalities, including Pullach, are implementing an integrated climate‑impact adaptation concept approved in late 2025. Workshops have fostered inter‑communal work groups that have already launched actions such as heat‑alert information systems, training for municipal yards on invasive‑plant control, tree‑planting initiatives, and heat‑action day programmes. Pullach also runs a “heat‑helper” volunteer network and climate‑adapted building projects.

Both efforts illustrate Germany’s push to turn research and planning into practical, community‑level responses to rising climate risks.
