German cities Datteln, Waltrop, and Oer-Erkenschwick used as film locations

The cities of Datteln, Waltrop, and Oer-Erkenschwick served as filming locations for three different movies.

In 2008, parts of the Nazi-era drama ‘Unter Bauern – Retter in der Nacht’ were filmed in Oer-Erkenschwick. During the production, actors Veronica Ferres and Armin Rhode were provided with protection. Other notable filming anecdotes include productions involving Til Schweiger and scenes set on a farm in Waltrop.
