German cities expand metal recycling to safeguard resources
Professional scrap collection services in Dortmund and Recklinghausen are emphasizing the role of metal recycling in the circular economy. By retrieving and processing scrap metal such as steel, copper, aluminium, brass and stainless steel, the firms aim to reduce reliance on primary raw materials, lower energy consumption and cut CO₂ emissions.
Both cities, located in the industrial Ruhr region, generate large volumes of scrap from manufacturing, construction, renovation and household sources. The reclaimed metals are re‑entered into production for sectors including machinery, construction, electrical engineering and automotive, helping to meet the growing global demand for metal while preserving limited natural resources.
