German cities host events for European Mobility Week
German cities Jena and Schweinfurt are participating in the European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22, featuring various events focused on sustainable transportation and public transit.
In Jena, Jenaer Nahverkehr has organized three main activities. These include guided tours of the Paradiesbahnhof construction site to provide insights into the 8.6 million euro infrastructure project involving 610 meters of tram tracks. Additionally, the program features interactive prevention theater regarding civil courage and mobility training designed to increase confidence for those using buses and trains. Registration is required for these events.
Schweinfurt is hosting events under the theme ‘Mix & Move – In Schweinfurt klimafreundlich mobil’. Activities include a ‘DANK-Stelle’ to honor cyclists and public transit users, an official opening ceremony at the town hall, and a bicycle excursion through the city's cycling network. Other scheduled events include a documentary film screening about sustainable mobility, a 60-kilometer bicycle star tour, and an exhibition titled ‘Klimazeugen’.
