German cities observe national Day of Civil Courage

On September 19, various German cities will observe the national Day of Civil Courage (Tag der Zivilcourage) to promote social responsibility and bystander intervention.

In Ludwigsburg, the city and the association Sicheres Ludwigsburg will host events at Stadtkirchenplatz, including a dialogue mobile to discuss how to help others in critical situations without endangering oneself. To increase visibility, the Ludwigsburg town hall will be illuminated in pink with the word ‘Zivilcourage’ projected onto its facade.

In Hanau, the city will hold memorial services for Alptug Sözen and Vili-Viorel Păun, two individuals who lost their lives while attempting to help others in dangerous situations. Mayor Claus Kaminsky noted that their actions serve as exemplary models of taking responsibility and refusing to remain indifferent.
