German cities prepare major children festivals for 2026

Leipzig will host its seventh children’s festival on the Augustusplatz on July 25‑26, 2026. The two‑day event will feature zones for science and technology, games, sports, health, adventure and creativity, with partners such as DEKRA, local utilities, the SC DHfK floorball department, RB Leipzig, Nintendo, Haribo, and the DAK‑Gesundheit offering activities ranging from a Bobby‑car challenge to nutrition workshops.

In Alsfeld, the "Leo feiert!" children’s festival is scheduled for August 22‑23, 2026. Organisers, led by Lara Mettbach, have secured funding from about 20 sponsors and are finalising a layout for roughly 150 stalls. Planned attractions include a fairy‑tale alley, a football zone, and a race course inspired by the film "Cars," while a safety concept is being coordinated with local police and rescue services.
