German football clubs launch summer preseason training

A wave of German clubs began their summer preseason preparations in mid‑July. Hamburger SV opened its training in Hamburg’s Volkspark before about 250 fans and announced new signings, while also planning a training camp in Austria. FC Augsburg started its public training session and scheduled six test matches, including a friendly against a Swabian selection and a clash with Leeds United. SC Paderborn’s youth side travelled to Bad Häring for a camp, featuring a test match against Japan’s Fagiano Okayama and the integration of several returning players. TSV 1860 München reported five unbeaten test games and announced upcoming fixtures before the Regionalliga Bayern season. SGV Heilbronn‑Freiberg suffered a 1‑6 loss to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II in a preparatory match. Other clubs such as SV Waldhof Mannheim, Borussia Dortmund, and FC Carl Zeiss Jena also confirmed training camps, test games and squad updates, including player injuries and transfers. The preparations involve camps in Austria, a test match in Slovenia, and public training sessions that allow fans to watch and obtain autographs.
