German clubs suffer defeats in Swiss pre‑season friendlies
FC Memmingen travelled to a training camp in Weiler‑Simmerberg and faced Swiss Serie A side FC Lugano in a pre‑season test match, losing 0‑4. Lugano took the lead in the 22nd minute and added three more goals before the final whistle, while Memmingen’s goalkeeper Dewein struggled to keep out the shots. The defeat comes as Memmingen prepares for the new Regionalliga season, with further friendlies scheduled against TSV Kottern and FV Ravensburg before the league opener on 25 July.
SV Elversberg, newly promoted to the Bundesliga, played Swiss champions FC Thun and drew 1‑1. Filimon Gerezgiher gave Elversberg the advantage in the 28th minute, before Brighton Labeau equalised for Thun before halftime. Coach Vincent Wagner used the match to rotate the squad, giving minutes to several youngsters. Elversberg’s next test is against Viktoria Köln, followed by a training camp in the Netherlands.
