German coaches considered for Poland and Czech national team posts

Former German trainer Winfried Schaefer said his lifelong dream was to manage the Poland national football side. The 76‑year‑old, who has previously coached clubs such as Borussia Mönchengladbach and national teams including Cameroon, Thailand and Jamaica, explained in an interview that he would have liked the opportunity but never received it.

Meanwhile, after the Czech Republic’s early exit from the World Cup, the Czech football association is reportedly evaluating former Germany and United States manager Jürgen Klinsmann as a potential successor to dismissed coach Miroslav Koubek. The move would follow earlier speculation about other foreign candidates, highlighting a trend of Central European teams looking abroad for experienced German coaches.
