German coalition leaders aim for year-end reform deadline
Members of the German black-red coalition have recently held meetings at both the executive and legislative levels to foster cooperation. Leaders from the Union and SPD, including Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Vice Lars Klingbeil, and SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch, have reportedly maintained a positive atmosphere during these sessions.
This improved interpersonal rapport is intended to provide the necessary foundation for a second wave of reforms. The coalition has set a deadline of the end of the year to transform existing policy proposals into enacted legislation, aiming to avoid the legislative failures experienced during the previous year.
