German communities host traditional Kirchweih festivals

Various local communities in Germany are preparing for traditional Kirchweih (Kerwa/Kerb) celebrations in early October 2026.

In Diebach, the Diebacher Landjugend is hosting its twelfth Kirchweih festival from October 9 to 11. The program includes a traditional parade, a church service at St. Bartholomäus, a tractor meeting, and a football derby. Musical entertainment and local food will be provided throughout the weekend.

In the Zweibrücken district of Watteiler, festivities are scheduled from October 2 to 6. Organized by the Straußgenossenschaft and TuS Watteiler, the event features traditional customs such as 'Ständeln'—where youth visit homes to collect donations—as well as dancing, local food, and a shot bar. The celebration includes a formal induction of new members into the Straußjugend.
