German communities organize memorials for Reichspogromnacht

Various communities in Germany are organizing memorial services to commemorate the Reichspogromnacht of 1938, honoring the victims of National Socialist violence and persecution.

In Südlohn, a memorial event is scheduled for November 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the synagogue square. The municipality and the working group for tolerance against right-wing extremism are hosting the gathering to stand against contemporary antisemitism and intolerance.

In the Giesing/Harlaching district of Munich, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place on November 7 at 2:00 PM near the 'Pogromnacht 1938' sculpture by Hans Martin Kieser. The event will feature the Polish Consul General, Rafał Wolski, and include artistic contributions such as poetry by Rose Ausländer and presentations regarding the Jewish history of the neighborhood.
