German community summer grill events attract seniors and judo members
In the Eifel village of Üxheim, the Kirchspieler seniors gathered for a well‑organised grill afternoon under Ginette’s leadership. Grill master Kalle prepared steaks and sausages, while participants enjoyed salads, bread and a surprise flower bouquet presented to Ginette. The event was praised for its camaraderie and plans were announced for a boat trip on the Rursee in August.
On July 3, the local Judo club held its traditional midsummer grill and games training in the same region. Over 100 members and their families attended, with Marion Pfaff’s team handling logistics and a veteran grill duo supplying food. Participants combined sport activities in the hall with relaxed conversation at the grill, and the gathering was deemed a success.
Both events highlighted how German community groups use shared meals and outdoor activities to strengthen social bonds during the summer.
