German companies increase AI use yet lag in transformation as Arvato gains AWS Cloud Operations credential
A new study commissioned by Amazon Web Services shows that 63 % of German firms now use artificial intelligence, up from 53 % a year earlier and well above the EU average of 54 %. However, only 15 % of those users employ AI for truly transformative applications, a drop from 21 % the previous year and below the European benchmark of 22 %. Most firms focus on basic tools such as chatbots, while advanced, multi‑model or agentic AI remains limited. Companies that have adopted agentic AI report higher productivity gains (92 % versus 83 % overall) and increased revenue (48 % versus 34 %). Start‑ups are the most active users, though 42 % consider relocating abroad for better financing, talent access and market reach.
Separately, German IT specialist Arvato Systems announced it has earned the Amazon Web Services Cloud Operations Competency. The award recognizes Arvato’s proven ability to design, operate and continuously optimise complex, regulated‑industry workloads on AWS with a focus on security, compliance and cost efficiency. The company emphasizes that the competency strengthens its role as a trusted cloud partner for large enterprises seeking resilient and efficient cloud operations.
