German Consulate General in Istanbul hosts German Unity Day reception

The German Consulate General in Istanbul hosted a reception to commemorate German Unity Day. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Mustafa Göksu, Beyoğlu District Governor Abdullah Atakan Atasoy, foreign mission representatives, and business leaders.

During her speech, German Consul General Regine Grienberger reflected on the historical significance of the period between November 9, 1989, and October 3, 1990, when the borders dividing Germany were opened. She emphasized that peaceful methods can overcome divisions and highlighted the long-standing friendship between Turkey and Germany.

Grienberger noted that while the two nations may not always share the same views on every issue, they continue to work together to advance their relationship. She stated that the German Federal Government is actively working to strengthen the partnership with Turkey through dialogue at all levels, including government, business, academia, and sister-city platforms.
