German consumer electronics market revenue projected to decline

The consumer electronics market in Germany is experiencing a continued decline, according to a new study by the IT industry association Bitkom. Total revenues are projected to fall by 2.4 percent this year, dropping from 7.8 billion euros to 7.6 billion euros. This marks the sixth consecutive year of declining revenue following a pandemic-related peak of 9.3 billion euros.

Flat-screen TVs remain the largest market segment with 2.81 billion euros in revenue, though they are expected to see a 3.5 percent decrease compared to the previous year. Gaming consoles are also projected to decline by 9 percent to 840 million euros, and audio devices are expected to fall by 4 percent to 870 million euros.

In contrast, some sectors show growth. Audio and video accessories are expected to reach 1.71 billion euros, a 1.9 percent increase. Digital cameras are also projected to grow by 2 percent, reaching an estimated 580 million euros by 2026. Additionally, advancements in artificial intelligence are driving new developments in smart headphones, glasses, and media content.
