German consumers increasingly cross into Poland for cheaper services

German residents from border regions are increasingly crossing into Poland to utilize services, particularly hairdressing, due to significant price advantages. Reports indicate that a full service including washing, cutting, and drying costs approximately 25 euros in Polish border towns, whereas similar services in Germany can average 54 euros for women and 33 euros for men.

Beyond lower costs, Polish salons offer greater availability, often accepting walk-in customers, which contrasts with the difficulty of securing spontaneous appointments in Germany. This trend is part of a broader pattern of cross-border spending; according to Statistics Poland, foreigners spent 14.4 billion PLN on goods and services in Poland during the third quarter of 2024, with German nationals accounting for 50.7 percent of that total.
