German cosmetics industry revenue rises to 19.1 billion euros in H1 2026

The German cosmetics and household care industry reported a total revenue of 19.1 billion euros for the first half of 2026, marking a 2.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. According to data from the industry association IKW, the sector is seeing a significant recovery in international trade.

Export revenue, which includes household care products, rose by 3.8 percent to reach 6.2 billion euros, following a period of stagnation in exports last year. Domestic sales also grew, with the German market generating 12.9 billion euros, a 1.4 percent increase.

IKW Managing Director Thomas Keiser noted that the rise in exports is a positive signal for the industry. He emphasized that companies require reliable and competitive framework conditions to capitalize on international opportunities and strengthen Germany as a business location. The IKW represents over 465 companies that account for approximately 95 percent of the German market and employ around 178,000 people.
