German court confirms cause of death in murder of 8‑year‑old Fabian

Eight‑year‑old Fabian disappeared on 10 October 2025 near Güstrow and was found dead four days later at the edge of a pond in Klein Upahl, Rostock district. A forensic pathologist testified that Fabian died from massive bleeding caused by six knife wounds to the chest and heart region, likely inflicted while he was lying down. No defensive injuries or drugs were detected.

The accused, 30‑year‑old Gina H., identified as the former partner of Fabian’s father, is alleged to have set the body on fire using a grill accelerant containing petroleum residues in an attempt to destroy evidence. A fire expert reported only trace amounts of accelerant and noted that the body was partially burned. The trial, which began on 28 April, has been kept public despite a request from the victim’s mother to exclude the proceedings. Further hearings are scheduled for 9 June, with the case expected to continue through September.
