German court upholds ruling against Bayer's misleading net‑zero pledge

The Cologne Regional Court confirmed the 2026 verdict obtained by the environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) against Bayer AG. The judgement finds Bayer’s promise of net‑zero emissions by 2050 to be misleading and orders the company to halt its deceptive climate advertising. DUH chief Jürgen Resch said the ruling “puts the scandal‑plagued Bayer in its place” and demands a shift from green‑marketing tricks to transparent climate reporting, effective emissions‑reduction measures and an immediate exit from glyphosate production. The court granted Bayer a three‑month period to adjust its advertising practices.

DUH plans to press the case before the European Court of Justice to block future glyphosate authorisations and to continue pressure for honest climate protection.
