German crime series announce new productions and anniversaries

German television production continues with new developments in popular crime series. The ARD Degeto Film series ‘Harter Brocken’ will celebrate its tenth anniversary on September 5, 2026, with the film ‘Die Versuchung’. Set in St. Andreasberg, the plot follows Sheriff Frank Koops as he deals with organized crime after a van carrying millions in cocaine crashes near a local hotelier.

Additionally, MDR and ARD Degeto Film have commenced filming for the fourth installment of the ‘Tod am Rennsteig’ series in and around Erfurt. Titled ‘Feuer und Flamme’, the production features criminal psychologists investigating a series of suspicious fires involving a convicted pyromaniac. This new film is scheduled for broadcast in 2027 as part of the Thursday crime slot on ARD.
