German cultural institutions announce new artist and writer scholarships

Several cultural institutions in Germany have announced new scholarship and residency opportunities for artists and writers.

Künstler:innenhaus Lauenburg is offering four scholarships for the state of Schleswig-Holstein. These include international residencies in visual arts, literature, and composition, as well as a national working scholarship in visual arts that accommodates children. Selected recipients will receive a monthly allowance of 1,000 EUR net, along with free housing and studio use for a four-month period between mid-May and mid-September.

In Baden-Württemberg, the Stuttgarter Schriftstellerhaus is launching a literary project scholarship for 2027. In cooperation with the Haus der Geschichte Baden-Württemberg, the grant supports young writers exploring Jewish history, culture, and contemporary life. The project aims to connect literature with the Great State Exhibition ‘Mittendrin. Jüdisches Leben im Südwesten’, encouraging authors to engage with Jewish communities, memorials, and cultural centers throughout the region.
