German Customs Confiscates Cocaine at Düsseldorf Airport and Fake Energy Drinks in Frankfurt

On 29 July 2026, customs officers at Düsseldorf Airport stopped a 68‑year‑old Hungarian traveler arriving from Brazil via Lisbon. Using detection dogs, they discovered about nine kilograms of cocaine hidden in shoes, backpacks, handbags and disguised as candy. The suspect was arrested and placed in pre‑trial detention.

On 19 July 2026, customs agents at the Osthafen facility in Frankfurt inspected a truck and seized 62,400 counterfeit energy‑drink cans – roughly 15,000 litres weighing 16.3 tonnes – originating from Afghanistan and intended for sale in France. The fake products imitated well‑known brands; the consignor was notified and the drinks were ordered destroyed, with an estimated market value of around €100,000.
