German customs intercept drugs hidden in birthday cards and speakers

German customs officials in the Selb region intercepted several shipments of illegal drugs being transported via postal services from the Netherlands to the Czech Republic. Using modern X-ray technology, authorities identified suspicious packages that had been cleverly disguised to evade detection.

Among the seized substances were cocaine, ecstasy tablets, crystal meth, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and blotter paper soaked in psychoactive substances. The drugs were hidden inside various everyday items, including birthday cards, a small Bluetooth speaker, and various product packaging.

The Main Customs Office of Regensburg has initiated 13 criminal proceedings following the operation. Günter Schnabel, head of the Selb transport route control unit, stated that criminals frequently attempt to hide drugs in inconspicuous mail, emphasizing that regular inspections are necessary to protect the population from these substances.
