German daycare centers to receive air conditioning in November

A municipal administration in Germany has announced that air conditioning units will be installed in daycare centers starting in November. The installations aim to make temperatures, particularly in sleeping rooms, more tolerable during the summer months.

The decision follows discussions within the municipal council that began late last year, driven by the necessity of the measures and requests from parents. Although the council had previously called for immediate action to have the systems operational before the summer, the installation process has faced delays.

To accelerate the process, the Freie Wähler party proposed installing two devices in all facilities without following a strict prioritization sequence, a motion that was passed by a majority. Following site inspections in early September, a specialist company has been commissioned, with work expected to begin approximately 14 weeks after the order was placed.
