German divers Hentschel and Avila Sanchez win bronze in Paris

At the European Aquatics Championships in Paris on 2 August 2026, German mixed‑synchronised 3‑metre springboard divers Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila Sanchez secured the bronze medal with a score of 284.19 points. Their performance completed a German medal set: Moritz Wesemann had won gold in the men’s 1‑metre event and the pair Pauline Pfeif / Elena Wassen took silver in the women’s 10‑metre platform.

Italy’s duo Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro won the gold with 305.85 points, while the neutral‑flag athletes Ilia Molchanov and Elizaveta Kuzina placed behind the Germans. Hentschel said, “We wanted a medal… with bronze we are happy given the strong field,” and Avila Sanchez added, “Errors happen; you have to move on and forget the jump.”

In the individual 1‑metre event Hentschel finished tenth after a series of flawed dives. The bronze medal adds to Germany’s growing success at the championships.
