German educator indicted for sexual abuse and child pornography

A 33-year-old special education professional faces indictment at the Bayreuth Regional Court following an extensive investigation into sexual abuse and child pornography.

The defendant is accused of manufacturing and possessing child pornography, sexually abusing children and vulnerable individuals in care facilities, and exploiting the inability to resist. Investigations suggest the crimes occurred within three facilities for people with disabilities in the Hof, Bayreuth, and Lichtenfels districts. The case originated from reports provided by the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

According to the indictment, the individual used his position of trust to take detailed images of the intimate areas of those under his care, including children under the age of 14, and touched them during the process. The charges affect 24 individuals with severe physical or mental impairments. A search of his residence uncovered more than 38,000 child pornography images and over 600 video files. The suspect was arrested in March 2026 and remains in custody.
