German entrepreneur Christina Block avoids pre‑trial detention in Hamburg court

The Hamburg Regional Court considered a detention order for Christina Block after she handed an envelope containing letters and draft motions to a child‑psychology expert during her criminal trial for the alleged kidnapping of her two youngest children. The prosecution did not request a warrant, and the presiding judges decided that no measures would be taken against her. Court spokesperson Florian Vogelsang confirmed that Block will not be placed in investigative custody.

Block’s defence lawyer Ingo Bott described the envelope hand‑over as an accidental mistake. The psychologist, Mareike Schüler‑Springorum, received the envelope outside the courtroom and reported its contents to the judges. The trial is set to continue, with the next hearing scheduled for 7 August, during which the expert will testify on the psychological impact on the children.
