German Evangelical Church Launches Youth Rüstzeit and Action Day Events

Marvin Jüssen, a youth worker for the Evangelical Church district, led a multi‑day youth retreat called a “Rüstzeit” in a leisure centre near Grünheide, Berlin. The program emphasized personal faith discussions, prayer as a personal connection to God, and community‑building activities such as paddling on a lake, a climbing‑forest visit, and a photo‑challenge trip to Berlin. Participants and the facilitator reported growth in confidence, openness, and mutual respect.

Separately, the church’s Open Children and Youth Work organized an “Action Day” in Brückenkopf‑Park on 7 August. Open to children, teenagers and families regardless of background, the event offered creative and movement‑based stations designed to help young people discover strengths, practice cooperation and experience democratic participation. The day aimed to showcase the breadth of the church’s youth services and to foster self‑efficacy, responsibility and community spirit.
