German Exhibitions Highlight Architecture Photography and Community Portraits

The Galerie Renate Kammer in Hamburg will host the exhibition “Hamburger Architekten auf Reisen” from 23 July to 20 August 2026. Curated by Hans Bunge, it presents travel photographs by five Hamburg architects—Max Paasche, Fritz Schleifer, Gottfried Schramm, Egbert Kossak and Bernhard Winking—spanning a century of visual documentation. The opening includes an introduction by the curator and a programme on 6 August featuring historian Olaf Bartels discussing architectural fotolog books.

In Regensburg, the Neuer Kunstverein opened Jürgen Huber’s “Menschenkette” on 16 July 2026. The show is a tribute to the association’s volunteer members, displaying expressive portrait works that avoid conventional identification. Art historian Matthias Kampmann introduced the exhibition, and the artist celebrated his birthday at the vernissage. Both exhibitions emphasize the cultural role of artistic documentation and community participation in German art institutions.
