German family rescued from Nepal floods

A four-person German family has been rescued by the Nepalese army following devastating floods in the Himalayan region. The family, including Manuel Münch, his Nepalese wife, and their two children aged seven and ten, survived by fleeing to higher ground after hearing a loud rumbling and seeing the approaching floodwave.

The family’s survival is attributed to a change in plans; they had prematurely ended a trekking tour in the Langtang region due to previous landslides and were visiting relatives near Trishuli Bazar when the floods struck. The disaster destroyed more than 20 bridges and severed road connections over a 40-kilometer stretch, leaving the family stranded for several days.

After contacting the German embassy, the family was evacuated via helicopter to an army camp in Battar Bazar. They have expressed a desire to return to Germany as soon as possible.
