German Farmers' Association calls for €500 bn EU agri‑budget at 2026 Freiburg summit

At the German Farmers' Day 2026 in Freiburg, the Deutsche Bauernverband (DBV) presented the "Freiburg Declaration" demanding a €500 billion agricultural budget within the EU's 2028‑2034 Multi‑annual Financial Framework and warning against the Commission's GAP reforms.

During the same event DBV president Joachim Rukwied urged the association to become younger and more gender‑balanced, highlighting the current leadership composition and the statutory limits that prevent his vice‑president Susanne Bockeloh from succeeding him. He noted that a new president will be elected in 2027 and suggested a possible amendment of the statutes to enable greater female representation.
