German Federal Presidency responds to EuroCity 2606 project

The peace and dialogue project ‘Das Abteil am Rande der Welt / EuroCity 2606’ has received well wishes from the German Federal Presidency. In a letter, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed support for the initiative's goal of bringing diverse representatives of civil society together for conversation.

Created by author, photographer, and former railway worker Sascha Ernst Dietrich, the project is envisioned as a 120-day international rail journey. The concept uses train compartments and dining cars as mobile discussion spaces where individuals from politics, culture, religion, and business can meet regardless of their background or political convictions. The project aims to combine these encounters through reportage, photography, and podcasts.

While the President's message does not constitute formal patronage or official support, the initiator views the response as significant resonance following previous feedback from the Federal Chancellery and the Holy See.
