Germany's hockey teams protest heat conditions as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rasmus Kristensen departs

The final stage of the FIH Pro League was held in Berlin under temperatures exceeding 40 °C. Men’s hockey matches were shortened to 7.5‑minute eighths; the German men lost 2‑5 to Spain and finished sixth. World‑champion Christopher Rühr called the conditions “a bit inhuman,” and captain Thies Prinz agreed, while spectators were given ice cubes. The German women beat China 5‑1, securing fifth place and using the tournament as preparation for the August World Cup.

In football, right‑back Rasmus Kristensen announced his exit from Eintracht Frankfurt to re‑join his youth club FC Midtjylland in Denmark for family reasons. The club, which had him under contract until 2029, confirmed the move with an estimated €6 million fee. Kristensen, who made 71 league appearances, said he leaves “with a laughing and a crying eye.”

Other German clubs also made moves: FC Carl Zeiss Jena signed striker Luca Wollschläger on a contract through 2027; 1. FC Kaiserslautern introduced three new signings ahead of the new season; and striker Elias Löder returned to Jena from SSV Ulm.
