German fire departments complete specialized training programs
Fire departments in Germany have completed various specialized training programs to enhance emergency response capabilities.
In Schneverdingen, the volunteer fire department conducted intensive training focused on chainsaw operations from aerial work baskets to manage storm-related hazards and clear rescue routes. Additionally, personnel underwent breathing apparatus training, which included a realistic zero-visibility exercise using smoke machines to simulate fireground conditions. The German Red Cross also provided first aid training for local firefighters.
In the Saarland region, 18 firefighters from Wadern and Weiskirchen successfully completed their training to become squad leaders (Truppführer) according to official service regulations. This qualification allows these individuals to lead the smallest tactical units within the fire service and serves as a prerequisite for advanced training at the Saarland State Fire School.
