German firms see surge in provisional insolvency proceedings

German insolvency courts published a series of provisional insolvency orders for dozens of companies between 25 May and 8 June 2026. The filings cover firms in real estate, logistics, construction, care, education, trades and services, including BPV Immobilien UG, BSG Bildungswerk, Badener Wohnbau GmbH, Charry GmbH, D&M Logistik Berlin and Köln, DKI eins GmbH, EJV Immobilien UG, FlaMar Sanitär‑ und Heizungsbau, GB Änderungsschneiderei, GLB GmbH, Ita Wegman Bildungszentrum, IVT‑Ilbertz Veranstaltungstechnik, Kronen‑Plastikfolienerzeugnisse, L Zahnärzte Dr. Lüttmann & Collegen ZMVZ, neunpoint GmbH, ORR GmbH, Pflegebüro Caliskans, POLI TEX UG, Rebmann Handel & Vertretung, Robofunktion Systems, Schäfer Modell‑ und Formenbau, Schwarzwaldhaus JB, SecMade Sicherheitstechnik & Dienstleistungs, SK Logistik and others.

The Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (IWH) reported that overall insolvency filings in Germany fell in May to 1,518, a 15 % drop from April, though still 3 % above May 2025 and 57 % above the 2016‑2019 average. The transport and storage sector posted the highest number of bankruptcies, likely due to rising fuel prices. About 11,000 jobs were affected in the ten percent of firms with the largest insolvencies. Early‑indicator data suggest May’s lower level may be temporary, with June expected to hold at a similarly high level.
