German folklore and cultural reflections

A ZDF documentary titled ‘Spuk! Deutschlands dunkle Sagen’ explores ancient German myths and legends. The program examines various folklore figures, including the Walpurgisnacht on the Brocken, the maritime Klabautermann, the Alpine Tatzelwurm, and the White Lady associated with the Hohenzollern dynasty. It also covers the Nachtmahr and the Bludnik, a creature said to lead travelers into dangerous moors.

Other cultural reflections include discussions on historical literature, such as Tilman Spreckelsen’s work on the Brothers Grimm, and Gwendoly Sasse’s analysis regarding German perceptions of Russia.
