German Football Association launches clubhouse modernization initiative
The German Football Association (DFB) has launched the ‘Vereinsheim 2.0’ initiative to address critical infrastructure needs for sports clubs. The program provides practical resources to help clubs, municipalities, and local authorities develop modern, sustainable clubhouses.
The initiative consists of three core components developed with support from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and various regional sports associations:
1. A handbook designed to help clubs evaluate functional, technical, and structural requirements while navigating building laws and funding.
2. A functional specification developed by experts and amateur club representatives that defines spatial and organizational parameters for ideal clubhouses.
3. A catalog featuring 16 certified, turnkey model clubhouses in four different sizes. These modular, scalable solutions, based on serial timber construction, range from small village clubhouses to complex facilities for large sports complexes. The catalog was established through an EU-wide tender process.
