German Foundations Support Discounted Summer Holiday Passes for Children
The Kinderfreunde teams from Schärding and St. Florian am Inn released the 33rd Schärdinger Ferienpass for the 2025 summer season. Open to children aged five and older, the programme includes eight events such as a music rally with the St. Florian music club, a police‑day at the city pool, a field‑trip to the ZEHNER‑barracks in Ried and a “Bach and insects for young researchers” adventure. The pass also marks the 50‑year town‑twinning celebration and features a day trip to Grafenau on 19 August. Registration is available through the Schärding town office.
In Schweinfurt, the Gert‑Riedel‑Stiftung is covering the cost of reduced‑price Ferienpässe for children from families receiving benefits such as Bürgergeld, child allowance, or housing aid. The subsidised passes, which can be obtained at the municipal youth office with a current passport photo and proof of benefits, aim to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation in summer activities. The initiative emphasizes equal opportunity and community integration for disadvantaged youth.
