Dorsten Pop‑Art Exhibition by Michael Holtschulte and Son Jona

The Mercaden shopping centre in Dorsten opened a pop‑art exhibition on 16 July 2026, showcasing works created by German cartoonist Michael Holtschulte and his four‑year‑old son Jona. The show, titled “MiJo Popart”, features drawings that began after Jona broke his left elbow while gymnastics and were later coloured and refined by his father. Holtschulte, known for his morbid cartoon series “Tot, aber lustig”, has a following of nearly 100 000 on Instagram. The exhibition runs until 31 July and includes a live‑drawing session on 25 July.

The collaborative pieces blend Holtschulte’s signature dark humor with the child’s imaginative monsters, ghosts, robots and animals, each given playful names such as “Kotzarella Galoppi” and “Schnapperich Zitterbein”. Opening hours begin at 15:00 on the first day, with the venue located on the ground floor of Mercaden.
